Out on a exploratory ride I spotted this beautiful old building and stopped for a while to shoot some photos. Just down the road I found a string of really nice old buildings! I'll have to either ride this way again, or make a special trip with the DSLR and tripod!

Monday afternoon in Hawthorn had an eerie yellow quality to the light. Sort of like you'd expect late in the afternoon / evening, but at 4pm instead. I went for a brief wander nearby Ausdoc Oval, taking a few photos in the railway tunnel, but ended up preferring this textualized graffiti instead.

A great little place and the best Shanghaiese Dumplings I've had in Australia. The noodles are also very worth trying!

Cibo On Miller, Thornbury - Day 45
We were very lucky to walk in a get a table at this place in West Preston / Thornbury. Service wasn't the fast but very courteous. The serving size was quite small but so was the price, so I think we'll be making a return visit sometime soon!

Everyone vanishing around the corner.

Out on a long ride I got quite a few photo ops, but I often find that on the bike, I'm less inclined to stop for a photo than when running. I suppose that is balanced by the fact I can cover a lot more ground!

Heidelberg-Kinglake Road - Day 43
One of the busiest cyclist roads in Melbourne, we saw two guys absolutely tearing up here in the afternoon sun, making it look easy. Pity I was setting up and couldn't catch either in my panorama!

In fact I should say 'One of' The Old Man's Workshops... Dad has multiple desks everywhere and is a collector of interesting junk pieces from all over. The leadlight and drawing/charcoal in this shot are his own work!

Prahran Splendor - Day 40
The houses hidden away in some Prahran backstreets are awe inspiring, but managing to capture the scope and beauty of these properties is tough with all the trees and hedges!

Steak Sandwich with Beetroot Relish @ Cheshire, Preston - Day 39
For some reason Regent is a hot spot for cool cafes and brunch places. and, perhaps even better than a short walk, Regent is a really nice 2km ride up along the trainline, making it feel special everytime we ride up there for brunch.

The steak sandwich at Cheshire is particularly good but not quite as good as the fantastical Beef Burger with Beetroot Relish that was a special the first time we visited and has never been sighted since!

I didn't get too many photos in Shepparton. Mostly I was disappointed by the lack of old buildings, but I did go out on a late night stroll to snap a few photos around my hotel.

Working out in South Morang, I stopped earlier in the day to snap a few photos of these powerlines and was fairly happy with the outcome but on leaving work, the setting sun gave me a great opportunity to grab a few more shots.

Running from the Year of the Dragon - Day 35
With Chinese New Year just this weekend, I am very much looking forward to getting out from under the cloud that Year of the Dragon was. Now, I'm a sceptical kind of guy, but all the same, I'd prefer others to be telling me that this is going to be my lucky year instead of a terribly unlucky one!

Shadows at the Grace Darling Hotel - Day 33
Other than the crop this is the direct black and white jpg produced in-camera. Shot at ISO800, I find the noise quite pleasing for black and white photography and will often push to ISO1600 just to get extra noise into my photos.

I hiked up to the top of Temple Ridge Reserve hoping to get some spectacular clouds and instead this gnarled bleached stump captured my attention. I'm sure the setting sun helped!

St Mary's Echuca - Day 31
One month in already! This year is already flying by.

St Mary's really stood out in Echuca, making it an easy photographic choice. Unfortunately I couldn't quite time my visit around sunset, but the clouds were very intense regardless.
